This replacement school was built using sustainable principles to better connect students to the natural world around them. The classroom pods are surrounded by courtyards that can be used as outdoor learning areas, they feature sun shades and day lighting, and the entire structural system was built with recycled steel.

Redeveloping Eastgate’s site included infrastructure and frontage improvements, and associated parking. Because stormwater flows into a tributary next to Lake Sammamish, extra attention was paid to creating an efficient filtration system that included a sand filter vault and a detention tank located under the school’s parking lot.
