Union Station Redevelopment Master Plan, Seattle
Services: Structural and Civil
Acres: 9.5
Completion: 2000
Client: Nitze-Stagen; Opus Northwest
The 9.5-acre Union Station Master Plan centered around the historic renovation of Union Station and concentrated on developing the garage as a base structure, allowing for future development of four office buildings on top.
A comprehensive approach to stormwater management included taking advantage of available capacity of an existing detention system, saving the cost of adding a new system.
The expansive pedestrian plaza on top of the garage not only provides a vital link between the office buildings, but connects to the adjacent Metro Bus Tunnel and serves as a gateway to Qwest and Safeco Fields. This project helped weave together the International District, Pioneer Square, and the SODO Business District by creating a dynamic commercial campus. |
