The purpose of this study was to evaluate the expected performance of the church during an earthquake and to provide general recommendations to preserve and strengthen the historic building. The entire 1907 structure was evaluated for general conformance to the requirements of ASCE 31-03.

Our firm concluded that the First United Methodist Church did not currently meet the requirements for a complete lateral-force-resisting-system. Recommendations were provided to mitigate the noted deficiencies.
